"Establishing the Muslim Home Part Two Creating an atmosphere of Faith in the Home."

1 Establishing the Muslim Home Part Two Creating an atmosphere of Faith in the Home

2 Make the home a place of remembrance of Allah The Prophet said: “The likeness of a house in which Allah is remembered and the house in which Allah is not remembered is that of the living and the dead, respectively.”
3 We must make the home one of remembrance by the following: Through our hearts Our prayers Reading Quran Discussing Islamic Issues Reading Islamic books Listening to Islamic lecture Watching Islamic videos
4 The Muslim home should not include: MusicBackbitingSlanderGossip Wine or Cigarettes Illegal sex Any haram things
5 Make your home a Qiblah: What is meant is taking the home as a place of worship. Allah says : “And We inspired Moosa and his brother (saying): ‘Take dwellings for your people in Egypt, and make your dwellings as places for your worship, and perform al- salaah, and give glad tidings to the believers.’” [Yoonus 10:87]. [Yoonus 10:87].
6 Ibn Abbas said: They were commanded to take their dwellings as places of prayer [lit. mosques].” Ibn Khatheer said “This – and Allah knows best – was because of the intensity of the tribulation that they were facing from Pharaoh and his people. They were commanded to pray much, as Allah says: Ibn Khatheer said “This – and Allah knows best – was because of the intensity of the tribulation that they were facing from Pharaoh and his people. They were commanded to pray much, as Allah says: ‘O you who believe! Seek help with patience and prayer…’ [al-Baqarah 2:153], And as it was reported in the hadeeth that the Messenger of Allah, when he was distressed by something, would pray.”

7 This Explains: Importance of worshiping at home, especially at times when the Muslims are in a position of weakness. In this context we may think of the mihraab of Maryam, which was her place of worship, as Allah says: “… Every time Zakariya entered the mihraab to visit her, he found her supplied with sustenance…” [Aal ‘Imraan 3:37]
8 To help make the home a place of worship this is why the prophet commanded that the voluntary prayers be prayed at home We have the story of how a companion came to the Prophet(sa) and asked him to pray in his home for him as a means of blessing his home: He did not sit down until he entered the house, then he said, ‘Where would you like me to pray? I showed him a corner of the house, then the Messenger of Allah (sa) stood up, said Takbeer, and we stood in a row behind him, and he prayed two rak’ahs and gave the salaam at the end of the prayer.” He did not sit down until he entered the house, then he said, ‘Where would you like me to pray? I showed him a corner of the house, then the Messenger of Allah (sa) stood up, said Takbeer, and we stood in a row behind him, and he prayed two rak’ahs and gave the salaam at the end of the prayer.” (Reported by al-Bukhaari)‏
9 Praying in the home leads to spiritual training which is what we need to focus on teaching in the home ‘Aa’ishah said: “The Messenger of Allah used to pray qiyaam at night, and when he prayed witr he would say, ‘Get up and pray witr, O ‘Aa’ishah’” (Reported by Muslim). The Prophet said: “May Allah have mercy on a man who gets up at night and prays, then he wakes up his wife to pray, and if she refuses he throws water in her face.” (Reported by Ahmad and Abu Dawood).
10 Encourage the women of your home to give in charity for this too is part of spiritual training O women! Give in charity, for I have seen that you form the majority of the inhabitants of Hell.” (Reported by al-Bukhaari)‏ One of the new ideas is to have a box at home for donations to the poor and needy: whatever is put in the box belongs to them, because it is their vessel in the Muslim home.
11 Another way to make the home faith filled is through Duaa Messenger of Allah said: “When any one of you enters his home and mentions the Name of Allah when he enters and when he eats, the Shaytaan says: ‘You have no place to stay and nothing to eat here.’ If he enters and does not mention the name of Allah when he enters, [the Shaytaan] says, ‘You have a place to stay.’ If he does not mention the name of Allah when he eats, [the Shaytaan says], ‘You have a place to stay and something to eat.’”
12 Also the Prophet (sa) said: “If a man goes out of his house and says, ‘Bismillaah, tawakkaltu ‘ala Allaah, laa hawla wa laa quwwata illaa Billaah (In the name of Allaah, I put my trust in Allaah, there is no help and no strength except in Allaah),’ it will be said to him, ‘This will take care of you, you are guided, you have what you need and you are protected.’ The Shaytaan will stay away from him, and another shaytaan will say to him, ‘What can you do with a man who is guided, provided for and protected?’” (Reported by Abu Dawood (Reported by Abu Dawood

13 Finally surat baqarah serves as a great means of keeping your home environment filled with faith and spirituality The Messenger of Allah said: “Do not make your houses into graves. The Shaytaan flees from a house in which Soorat al- Baqarah is recited.” (Reported by Muslim) ‏ The Messenger of Allaah said: “Recite Soorat al-Baqarah in your houses, for the Shaytaan does not enter a house in which Soorat al-Baqarah is recited.” (Reported by al-Haakim in al- Mustadrak Saheeh al-Jaami’)

Sunnahfollowers Presents The Etiquettes of Making Duaa and How to get your Duaa answered

Presentation on theme: "Sunnahfollowers Presents"— Presentation transcript:

1 Sunnahfollowers Presents
The Etiquettes of Making Duaa and How to get your Duaa answered

2 Allaah loves to be asked, and He encourages that in all things
Allaah loves to be asked, and He encourages that in all things. He is angry with the one who does not ask of Him and He encourages His slaves to ask of Him.Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):“And your Lord said: “Invoke Me [i.e. believe in My Oneness (Islamic Monotheism) and ask Me for anything] I will respond to your (invocation)”[Ghaafir 40:60]

3 Du’aa’ is very important in Islam, so much so that the Prophet said
“Du’aa’ is worship.”Narrated by al-TirmidhiImam Ibn al-Qayyim said:“Du`aa’s and ta`awwudhat [prayers seeking refuge with Allah] are like a weapon, and a weapon is only as good as the person who is using it; it is not merely the matter of how sharp it is. If the weapon is perfect and free of faults, and the arm of the person using it is strong, and there is nothing stopping him, then he can lay waste the enemy. But if any of these three features is lacking, then the effect will be lacking accordingly.”

4 From this it will be clear that there is an etiquette and rulings that must be fulfilled in the Du`aa’ and in the person making the Du`aa’.There are also things that may prevent the Du`aa’ reaching Allah or being answered – these things must be removed from the person making the Du`aa’ and from theDu`aa’.When all of the following conditions are fulfilled, then the Du`aa’ may be answered.

5 The Etiquettes of Making Dua'aa

6 Steps to Keep in Mind and Follow
(1) The one who is making du’aa’ should believe in Tawheed with regard to the divinity, Lordship, names and attributes of Allaah. His heart should be filled with Tawheed.(2) In order for Allaah to respond to the du’aa’, it is essential that the person should not be deliberately indulging in major sins. Allah says:“And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright”[al-Baqarah 2:186]

7 Also the person making duaa must have sincerity to Allah
Also the person making duaa must have sincerity to Allah. Allah says in the interpretation of the meaning:“And they were commanded not, but that they should worship Allaah, and worship none but Him Alone (abstaining from ascribing partners to Him)”[al-Bayyinah 98:5]Du’aa’ is worship, as the Prophet said, so sincerity (ikhlaas) is a condition of its being accepted.

8 Next We should ask of Allaah by His most beautiful names
Next We should ask of Allaah by His most beautiful names. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):“And (all) the Most Beautiful Names belong to Allaah, so call on Him by them, and leave the company of those who belie or deny (or utter impious speech against) His Names”[al-A’raaf 7:180]

9 We should then praise Allaah as He deserves before we call upon Him
We should then praise Allaah as He deserves before we call upon Him. Al-Tirmidhi narrated that Fadaalah ibn ‘Ubayd said:Whilst the Messenger of Allaah was sitting, a man came in and prayed and said, “ O Allaah, forgive me and have mercy on me.”The Messenger of Allaah (S) said,“You have been too hasty, O worshipper. When you have prayed and are sitting, praise Allaah as He deserves to be praised, and send blessings upon me, then call upon Him.”

10 According to another version
When one of you prays, let him start with praise of Allaah, then let him send blessings upon the Prophet, then let him ask whatever he likes after that.”Then another man prayed after that, and he praised Allaah and sent blessings upon the Prophet. The Prophet said: “O worshipper, ask and you will be answered.”

11 Also Sending blessings upon the Prophet. The Prophet said
Every du’aa’ is kept back until you send blessings upon the Prophet.” Narrated by al-Tabaraani in al- Awsat

12 Next – face the direction of the Qibla.
Muslim narrated that ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab said: On the day of Badr, the Messenger of Allaah looked at the mushrikeen, who were one thousand strong, and his companions numbered three hundred and nineteen. Then the Prophet of Allaah turned to face the qiblah, then he stretched forth his hands and started to cry out to his Lord:“O Allaah, grant me what You have promised me, O Allaah, give me what You have promised me. O Allaah, if this small band of Muslims perishes, You will not be worshipped on earth.”He kept on crying out to his Lord, stretching forth his hands, facing towards the qiblah, until his cloak fell from his shoulders…al-Nawawi said in Sharh Muslim: This shows that it is mustahabb to face towards the qiblah when making du’aa’, and to raise the hands.

13 Raising the handsAbu Dawood (1488) narrated that Salmaan said: The Messenger of Allaah said:“Your Lord, may He be blessed and exalted, is Kind and Most Generous, and He is too kind to let His slave, if he raises his hands to Him, bring them back empty.”(Classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood)The palm of the hand should be raised heavenwards, in the manner of a humble beggar who hopes to be given something.Abu Dawood narrated from Maalik ibn Yasaar that the Messenger of Allaah said:“When you ask of Allaah, ask of Him with the palms of your hands, not with the backs of them.” Classed as saheeh

14 Next one must Have certain faith that Allaah will respond, and focusing with proper presence of mind, because the Prophet said:“Call upon Allaah when you are certain of a response, and remember that Allaah will not answer a du’aa’ that comes from a negligent and heedless heart.”Narrated by al-Tirmidhi

15 Also one should Asking frequently
A person should ask his Lord for whatever he wants of the good things in this world and the Hereafter, and he should beseech Allaah in du’aa’, and not seek a hasty response, because the Prophet said:“The slave will receive a response so long as his du’aa’ does not involve sin or severing of family ties, and so long as he is not hasty.” It was said, “What does being hasty mean?” He said: “When he says, ‘I made du’aa’ and I made du’aa’, and I have not seen any response,’ and he gets frustrated and stops making du’aa’.”Narrated by al-Bukahari

16 Also be firm In your duaa
The Prophet (sa) said:“No one of you should say, ‘O Allaah, forgive me if You wish, O Allaah, have mercy on me if You wish’; he should be firm in his asking, for Allaah cannot be compelled.”Narrated by al-Bukhaari

17 Use Beseeching, humility, hope and fear
Invoke your Lord with humility and in secret” [al-A’raaf 7:55]“Verily, they used to hasten on to do good deeds, and they used to call on Us with hope and fear, and used to humble themselves before Us”[al-Anbiya’ 21:60]“And remember your Lord within yourself, humbly and with fear and without loudness in words in the mornings and in the afternoons”[al-A’raaf 7:20]

18 Also repeat the duaa 3 times
Once while praying Abu Jahl and others came and put placenta on the back of the prophet and his daughter fatima moved it away. When the Prophet had finished his prayer, he raised his voice and prayed against them – and when he made du’aa’ he said:“O Allaah, punish Quraysh” three times. When they heard his voice, they stopped laughing and were afraid because of his du’aa’. Then he said,“O Allaah, punish Abu Jahl ibn Hishaam, ‘Utbah ibn Rabee’ah, Shaybah ibn Rabee’ah, al-Waleed ibn ‘Uqbah, Umayyah ibn Khalaf and ‘Uqbah ibn Abu Mu’ayt,”

19 Also in order for your duaa to be answered you must ensure the following: Your food and clothing are goodThe Messenger of Allaah said: “O people, Allaah is Good and does not accept anything but that which is good. Allaah enjoins upon the believers the same as He enjoined upon the Messengers. He says (interpretation of the meaning):‘O (you) Messengers! Eat of the Tayyibaat [all kinds of Halaal (lawful) foods which Allaah has made lawful (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, milk products, fats, vegetables, fruits)] and do righteous deeds. Verily, I am Well Acquainted with what you do’[al-Mu’minoon 23:51]‘O you who believe (in the Oneness of Allaah — Islamic Monotheism)! Eat of the lawful things that We have provided you with’[al-Baqarah 2:172]

20 Then he mentioned a man who travels for a long distance and is disheveled and dusty, and he stretches forth his hands towards heaven sayingO Lord, O Lord,’ but his food is haraam, his drink is haraam, his clothing is haraam, he has been nourished with haraam, so how can he be responded to?Ibn Rajab said: Ensuring that one’s food, drink and clothing are halaal, and that one is nourished with halaal, is a means of having one’s du’aa’ answered.

21 Finally, say the duaa silently not aloud:
Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):“Invoke your Lord with humility and in secret” [al-A’raaf 7:55]And Allaah praised His slave Zakariyyah (peace be upon him) by saying (interpretation of the meaning):“When he called to his Lord (Allaah) a call in secret” [Maryam 19:3]

Sunnahfollowers Presents The Meaning of Islam and Iman. - ppt download: More generally, one could say that Eemaan is construed to mean testifying and belief, while Islaam represents external submission, by tongue and action by limbs. Whoever has faith, he has Islaam, and whoever has Islaam, he has some degree of faith. This is the reason why when one of these two terms is mentioned, the other is taken for granted and is included in it. When it is said in the Qur’aan,
